The highly anticipated 2018 VW Up! GTI is now available to order in the UK, all set to take the hot hatch market by storm. Granted, it is a supermini and not a hatchback. But the Up! GTI is so good at what it does, and at £13,750 it is so well-priced, it renders all those expensive, over-powered hot hatches out there silly.  I mean, if space is not really an issue for you, 2018 VW Up! GTI is a much better proposition than its own big brother, Golf GTI. And we know full well that the Golf is the king of all hot hatches. With the Up! GTI it is not about how much power you have. It’s the whole package. Yes, it only has a 999cc turbo engine with 115 PS and 200 Nm of torque. But on the upside it does 58.9 mpg and emits no more than to 110 g/km of CO2. That’s a pretty wide range, and that’s because there are 10 different trims to choose from.  Whichever you go for, though, you get the special charm of DS 7 Crossback which is due in large part to its LED VISION lighting system, 3D rear lights, and the rather chunky profile. ABT Sportline is coming to this year’s Geneva Motor Show with a hotted-up version of Audi’s RS5 Coupe. To look at it you would think ABT Audi RS5-R is a totally different animal than the standard car. But in fact the upgrades are pretty subtle in nature.This car just naturally look awesome.  In the engine department ABT Audi RS5-R does get a pretty good upgrade, but it’s nothing mind-blowing. The tuner has upped the output of the 2.9 liter biturbo V6 motor by 80 horsepower and boosted the torque by 90 Nm. That means the RS5 now has 530 horsepower and 690 Nm of torque to play with. And that means it can sprint form 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds as opposed to the standard model which completes the same task in 3.9 seconds. So there is no over-the-top million horsepower treatment here and that’s great. Those over-powered tuner cars are rarely usable on daily basis. ABT Audi RS5-R, though, could be driven everyday. It’s still pretty cheap for what offers at £16,225, but it’s a spunky little thing with a lot of attitude! Starting today, the new extra-well-equipped Kia Picanto X-Line goes on sale in the UK with a base price of £12,595. Unveiled at the IAA last year, the X-Line comes with a number of exclusive exterior and interior appointments, plus more standard equipment.  2018 Kia Picanto X-Line comes with a 1.25-litre petrol engine (83bhp and 122 Nm of torque) and five-speed manual gearbox, with a four-speed automatic transmission available for an additional £650. You get a combined fuel economy figure of 61.4mpg out of this engine, corresponding to CO2 emissions that are as low as 106g/km (manual). So the car is pretty to cheap to run. The long wheelbase version of the Tiguan SUV, known simply as the VW Tiguan Allspace, is now available to order in the UK. Kia’s full-size SUV, the Sorento, was a bit of a miss and hit with its first couple of generations. The current model, though, is a quality product in every aspect, and that is why they felt it didn’t need major changes for the new modelyear. 90 grand is a lot of money for what’s, in its essence, a BMW 5 Series saloon. But then this is no ordinary saloon car. The new 2018 Alpina B5 Bi-Turbo is, in the tuner’s own words, the most affordable 200 mph production car in the UK. Now that is some good justification! We have to point out the £89,000 is for the 2018 Alpina B5 Bi-Turbo sedan. The Estate version kicks off at £91,000. But as you may have already guessed, it is the fastest wagon out there. Powering both of these German monsters is a 608 horsepower Alpina-tuned BMW V8. This engine is altogether sweeter and more civilized than the one you get in BMW’s own M5. It is also capable of generating 670 Nm (494 lbft) of torque, swelling to an astonishing 800 Nm (590 lbft) from 3,000 – 5,000 rpm. It is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission also improved for this car.
