The crossover segment is showing no signs of diminishing. If anything, it is getting bigger, which is why even car makers like Skoda is delving deeper into this market. These sketches they have released previews the Skoda Vision X concept, a new urban crossover set for debut at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.  Though compact, The Vision X is described by Skoda as having generous proportions and a spacious interior. The concept features at the latest trends incorporated into Skoda’s design language, but don’t hold your breath to see any of the cool styling elements of the concept, such as distinctive bumpers, dynamic side sills, or the 20-inch alloy wheels, on the production model. The same goes for the unique FlexGreen paint job Skoda Vision X concept boasts. As for the interior, Skoda Vision X concept features a completely new design language and introduces daring new elements of style. Good news for the fans of big, luxurious, over-the-top coupes. The all-new BMW 8 Series Coupe is very close to production now as the Bavarian company dispatches prototypes to race tracks for dynamic testing. This thing, by the looks of things, is going to give the AMG 63 and Bentley Continental GT a good run for their money.   We only get to see the overall shape of the BMW 8 Series Coupe in this teaser, but they have included a good deal of pure exhaust noise. The 8 Coupe, as they call it, sounds a lot dirtier than most M cars of recent years, and that’s great. And as for the looks, it’s not like we don’t know what the 8er is going to be like. The electric concept Kia promised they would reveal at the Consumer Electronics Show tued out to be something more familiar than we were expecting. The Kia Niro EV Concept is a fully electric version of the Niro Hybrid, and it is but one of a total of 16 electrified vehicles Kia is going to launch by 2025. Now, the Niro we know is an alright-looking compact SUV. It’s not that pretty, but it’s also not weird like it’s electric cousin. Granted, Kia Niro EV is a concept for now. But there is no denying that it is a fairly unsightly thing to look at. But it is aerodynamically-efficient they say, and the cues you see on it, such as the slim lights, will be featured on other future cars as a hallmark of Kia’s electrified models. The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas has become in recent years a battle ground for auto makers to show off their latest technologies. So it’s the appropriate place for Hyundai to reveal their next-generation Hyundai FCEV fuel cell Concept, revealed here in this visual preview.  If you don’t like the look of this thing, and who can blame you, don’t worry. This is not a concept to showcase the prowess of the design department, but rather that of the engineering fellas. The Hyundai FCEV Concept is the next-generation hydrogen-powered fuel cell electric vehicle equipped with new Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) technologies. These tech stuff ought to the average CES goer really happy. Hyundai has always been at the forefront of the hydrogen fuel cell game, even in recent times where the outlook is the bleakest for this technology. Along with its sister company Hyundai, Kia Motors is coming to CES 2018 with a futuristic, technologically-advanced concept model. This as yet unnamed EV concept is mostly about showcasing Kia’s advances in electric powertrains and autonomous driving, but it also appears to be have a rather interesting design.  The main highlights of the Las Vegas-bound Kia EV concept include a highly efficient battery-electric powertrain, never-seen-before human-machine interface (HMI) and an advanced new ‘motion graphic’ lighting system. What’s more, Kia will showcase ‘Beyond Autonomous Driving’ exhibit in which we lea about “outline the company’s plans for vehicle autonomy and mobility, supported by the introduction of upcoming autonomous drive technologies.” Yet another attraction of Kia’s display at CES is the three interactive, cockpit-style exhibits showcasing advanced driver assistance technologies, new user interface, and world’s first in-car 5G connection. “Virtual reality, self-driving cars, and full vehicle connectivity were all once considered technologies of the distant future. With the 2018 North American Inteational Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit only a couple of weeks away, Infiniti decided to tease us with the first official photo of their latest concept. The Infiniti Q Inspiration previews the firm’s new design language ad also their vision for a future model for the saloon segment.  The first thing that strikes a viewer upon seeing the Infiniti Q Inspiration Concept as a welcome new feature is the fact that the new form language is a lot less melt-y than before. You  probably remember Infiniti’s previous concepts and how every bit of them looked like they’d been exposed to vicious flames and then deep-freezed while melting. It was an odd, but fascinating look that made its way to some extent to production models. The new design is neater and cleaner and altogether less cluttered. We probably have Executive Design Director Karim Habib, formerly of BMW, to thank for the improvement. We have to see the Infiniti Q Inspiration Concept in full before making a real opinion of it, but we’re liking what we’ve seen of it so far. Japanese tuner Wald Inteational has finally released a preview of their latest Black Bison package, tailored for the BMW’s flagship sedan. The new Wald BMW 7 Series styling package fits both G11 and G12 variants of the 7er which are the short and long wheelbase models respectively.  This generation of the 7er has a unique and angry kind of design which seems to respond well to subtle improvements. But that is just what Wald BMW 7 Series is not, at least in its upcoming version. The tuner has done a diet version of this car which we will get to in a minute. What they are previewing here is a full body kit with completely revised bumpers and skirts and some old-fashioned wheels which make the car look like it’s been customized by a teenager in a video game. Still, this kind of look might appeal to some people. They may find the Japanese design of the front bumper with its unusual vents and grilles intriguing, and the slammed suspension just the thing to make the car sportier. Before you get too excited about the prospect of driving the all-new BMW X7 Sports Activity Vehicle in teh coming year, we have to point out the first batch is, as the title says, pre-production models. These are basically production cars produced for real-world tests. Thefinal version will be released some time close to the end of 2018.  So there is still about a year to go before you can have this ginormous BMW with its massive grilles and narrow eyes which gives it the look of a mutant sea creature. Mind you, the pre-production BMW X7 is still not final final in terms of design, which is why the test units will be heavily camouflaged as they travel around the world, putting the vehicle’s driving dynamics as well as features and equipment to rigorous test. The new Lamborghini Urus SUV has not received, at least so far, the warm welcome the company was hoping it would. Some don’t like the way it looks. Some aren’t happy with the specs. And to some it is just not extreme enough. If you belong to the latter group, this custom BMW X6M gaished with all sorts of extra goodies may just be what you are after.  Prepared by BMW Abu Dhabi’s tuning arm, this X6M features a full assortment of very high-end aftermarket parts. The way they are put together, too, is something to savour, since the parts match each other nicely and create a whole that does not really look aftermarket. It almost fulls you into thinking it’s come out of the factory wearing all those jewelry and cool clothes. And then, of course, there is the unique shape of the X6M itself which adds to the visual drama brought on by the carbon parts. You are all familiar, I am sure, with the Croatian hyper car maker Rimac, the creators of the giant-slayer that is the Concept One. Currently they are hard at work developing their second model, code-named Rimac Concept Two, to have it ready for debut at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show.  Given the specs of Concept One, one would expect Rimac Concept Two to take a different approach and give luxury and comfort a hyper priority than performance. After all, Rimac has nothing to prove anymore in that aspect. And they are going that way, making sure the Two is more luxurious and more comfortable. Everybody in the car world was waiting to see the new BMW i8 Roadster in production form. And although we have to admit the whole thing was a bit anti-climactic given the build-up, the hybrid sports car is still a hugely desirable thing. The new model, and the latest version of the i8 Coupe, benefit from increased range as well.  The optimized BMW eDrive powertrain with its turbocharged three-cylinder and electric motors delivers 369 hp in the BMW i8 Roadster – and of course the 2018 Coupe, but it’s hard to focus on that with the Roadster in the center of things. BMW Abu Dhabi has astounded us on more than one occasion with their extremely exclusively exquisite BMWs. But what they have in store this time takes the cake in terms of beauty and overall excellence. This 2017 BMW M760Li Individual is dressed in a very pretty Long Beach Blue and “tricked-out” with some after market parts. That means this 7er is unique on at least three or four levels.
