The highly anticipated 2018 VW Up! GTI is now available to order in the UK, all set to take the hot hatch market by storm. Granted, it is a supermini and not a hatchback. But the Up! GTI is so good at what it does, and at £13,750 it is so well-priced, it renders all those expensive, over-powered hot hatches out there silly.  I mean, if space is not really an issue for you, 2018 VW Up! GTI is a much better proposition than its own big brother, Golf GTI. And we know full well that the Golf is the king of all hot hatches. With the Up! GTI it is not about how much power you have. It’s the whole package. Yes, it only has a 999cc turbo engine with 115 PS and 200 Nm of torque. But on the upside it does 58.9 mpg and emits no more than to 110 g/km of CO2. Behold the quirkiest, funkiest, most interesting SUV in the market today! The new DS 7 Crossback gears up for launch in the British market where it is priced from £28,050 to £50,000. That’s a pretty wide range, and that’s because there are 10 different trims to choose from.  Whichever you go for, though, you get the special charm of DS 7 Crossback which is due in large part to its LED VISION lighting system, 3D rear lights, and the rather chunky profile. Good news for the fans of big, luxurious, over-the-top coupes. The all-new BMW 8 Series Coupe is very close to production now as the Bavarian company dispatches prototypes to race tracks for dynamic testing. This thing, by the looks of things, is going to give the AMG 63 and Bentley Continental GT a good run for their money.   We only get to see the overall shape of the BMW 8 Series Coupe in this teaser, but they have included a good deal of pure exhaust noise. The 8 Coupe, as they call it, sounds a lot dirtier than most M cars of recent years, and that’s great. And as for the looks, it’s not like we don’t know what the 8er is going to be like. Starting today, the new extra-well-equipped Kia Picanto X-Line goes on sale in the UK with a base price of £12,595. Unveiled at the IAA last year, the X-Line comes with a number of exclusive exterior and interior appointments, plus more standard equipment.  2018 Kia Picanto X-Line comes with a 1.25-litre petrol engine (83bhp and 122 Nm of torque) and five-speed manual gearbox, with a four-speed automatic transmission available for an additional £650. You get a combined fuel economy figure of 61.4mpg out of this engine, corresponding to CO2 emissions that are as low as 106g/km (manual). So the car is pretty to cheap to run. The long wheelbase version of the Tiguan SUV, known simply as the VW Tiguan Allspace, is now available to order in the UK. The extra-practical vehicle comes with a longer wheelbase for added luggage capacity and third-row seats as its main highlights.  The difference in length in 2018 VW Tiguan Allspace compared to the standard model is significant (4,701 mm vs 4,486 mm). Kia’s full-size SUV, the Sorento, was a bit of a miss and hit with its first couple of generations. The current model, though, is a quality product in every aspect, and that is why they felt it didn’t need major changes for the new modelyear. The 2018 Kia Sorento hits the British market with a new 8-speed auto box and new GT-Line and GT-Line S variants. 90 grand is a lot of money for what’s, in its essence, a BMW 5 Series saloon. But then this is no ordinary saloon car. The new 2018 Alpina B5 Bi-Turbo is, in the tuner’s own words, the most affordable 200 mph production car in the UK. Now that is some good justification! We have to point out the £89,000 is for the 2018 Alpina B5 Bi-Turbo sedan. The Estate version kicks off at £91,000. But as you may have already guessed, it is the fastest wagon out there. Powering both of these German monsters is a 608 horsepower Alpina-tuned BMW V8. This engine is altogether sweeter and more civilized than the one you get in BMW’s own M5. It is also capable of generating 670 Nm (494 lbft) of torque, swelling to an astonishing 800 Nm (590 lbft) from 3,000 – 5,000 rpm. It is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission also improved for this car. As a result the B5 Bi-turbo Saloon will hit 60 mph in 3.4 seconds, with the Touring just 0.1 seconds behind, before clocking 205 mph flat out. With the release of the all-new 2018 Nissan LEAF UK Spec only a month away, the company confirmed the official pricing of the innovative electric car. The thoroughly improved new LEAF can be had in the UK for as little as £21,990, while the range-topping version with all the bells and whistle runs for £33,655. Mind you, these prices include the £4,500 Govement Grant for electric vehicles. So you’d better hope nothing happens to that as officials come and go. At any rate, the 2018 Nissan LEAF UK Spec offers new and much improved styling, a host of new technology features, and crucially higher battery capacity for better range. It now has a range of 235 miles (NEDC) which is 50 percent better than its predecessor, and you get more power to at 150 horsepower. Japanese tuner Wald Inteational has finally released a preview of their latest Black Bison package, tailored for the BMW’s flagship sedan. The new Wald BMW 7 Series styling package fits both G11 and G12 variants of the 7er which are the short and long wheelbase models respectively.  This generation of the 7er has a unique and angry kind of design which seems to respond well to subtle improvements. But that is just what Wald BMW 7 Series is not, at least in its upcoming version. The tuner has done a diet version of this car which we will get to in a minute. What they are previewing here is a full body kit with completely revised bumpers and skirts and some old-fashioned wheels which make the car look like it’s been customized by a teenager in a video game. Still, this kind of look might appeal to some people. They may find the Japanese design of the front bumper with its unusual vents and grilles intriguing, and the slammed suspension just the thing to make the car sportier. Before you get too excited about the prospect of driving the all-new BMW X7 Sports Activity Vehicle in teh coming year, we have to point out the first batch is, as the title says, pre-production models. These are basically production cars produced for real-world tests. Thefinal version will be released some time close to the end of 2018.  So there is still about a year to go before you can have this ginormous BMW with its massive grilles and narrow eyes which gives it the look of a mutant sea creature. Mind you, the pre-production BMW X7 is still not final final in terms of design, which is why the test units will be heavily camouflaged as they travel around the world, putting the vehicle’s driving dynamics as well as features and equipment to rigorous test. The new Lamborghini Urus SUV has not received, at least so far, the warm welcome the company was hoping it would. Some don’t like the way it looks. Some aren’t happy with the specs. And to some it is just not extreme enough. If you belong to the latter group, this custom BMW X6M gaished with all sorts of extra goodies may just be what you are after.  Prepared by BMW Abu Dhabi’s tuning arm, this X6M features a full assortment of very high-end aftermarket parts.
