With the world premiere of the all-new 2019 Mercedes G-Class set for the Detroit Auto Show in January, the German automaker is giving us a Christmas treat. They have released a bunch of photos completely revealing the SUV’s interior design. And it’s a fine blend of old and new, incorporating the current design themes of Mercedes-Benz into the unique shape of the G-Wagen‘s upright dashboard.  To be honest an upgrade to the big G’s cabin was long overdue. They did give it a new steering or a fancy screen now and then, but the overhaul that comes with the 2019 Mercedes G-Class is a real improvement in terms of design and ergonomics. There is more space in the new cabin, more luxury and comfort features, and fewer sharp edges that could seriously hurt you in the event of an accident. The main highlights include a new dashboard, instrument panel and center console in line with other Mercedes products of this era, plus new steering wheel, infotainment screen and seats. The iconic features, such as the grab handle in front of the passenger or the chrome-highlighted switches for the differential locks have been preserved. Just out of the blue Mercedes-Benz decided to release the first official photos of the 2018 Mercedes A-Class after a preview event in Germany. These photos, mind, show only the interior of the new premium hatchback. But at least they reveal the interior in full. And it’s pretty cool.  Having a unified corporate look might such as Mercedes and all the other major automakers have does make the cars of a certain brand look pretty much identical. These days Brabus makes 850 versions of pretty much every Mercedes-Benz model they get their hands on. But for us the Brabus Mercedes CLS 850 remains one of the all-time greats on account of the car’s unique blend of utter savagery and exquisite style. This thing is like a Mafioso hitman – calm, collected, elegant, but completely devoid of compassion and brutal as hell. Based on the Mercedes-Benz GLS 63 AMG Brabus has created a monster that redefines the term Super SUV. Christened Brabus Mercedes GLS 850 XL, this massive and massively powerful family bus is utterly pointless as far as practical matters are conceed, but totally and completely awesome in every other way. As the name suggests, Brabus Mercedes GLS 850 XL has the beefy twin-turbo AMG eight-cylinder engine which Brabus has upped to six liters and modified so deeply, it doesn’t even resemble the standard unit. The result of this engineering work is 850 horsepower and a mind-boggling peak torque of 1,450 Nm (1,069 lb-ft). And what that means in the real world is a 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) time of 4.2 seconds and a limited top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph). You may not need all that power and speed in your life, especially if you want to use this SUV for school run and taking the kids to soccer practice. But what you definitely want is those looks.
