People keep telling us the horsepower war between German automakers is a thing of the past. How, then, will they explain the new 2019 Mercedes-AMG G63, which is more powerful than ever? This mighty offroader now packs an insane 585 horsepower from a 4.0 liter V8.  Based on the new generation of the G-Wagen with its cute new lights and fancy interior, the 2019 Mercedes-AMG G63 is also the most capable iteration of this car ever built. Zero to 100 km/h takes only 4.5 seconds. That alone is mind-boggling in a car this size. More and more car makers are delving into the field of offering parts and accessories usually thought to be the realm of aftermarket specialists. This takes the bread right out of the tuners’ mouth, but for the consumers it is better since they get a factory-authorized upgrade. Not to be outdone by American car makers who auctions their special models left and right for charity, McLaren sent a super special 720S to the Naples Winter Wine Festival (NWWF). This one-of-a-kind McLaren 720S MSO raised the goodly sum of $650,000 for the Naples Children & Education Foundation.  The one-off McLaren 720S MSO auctioned at the event is one of the nicest examples of the supercar created to date by McLaren Special Operations. The highlights of the car include a Nerello Red exterior paint finish (named after the Nerello Mascalese grape from the Mascali area of Castaia, Sicily); a Saddle Brown with Nerello stitching leather interior; and a custom steering wheel featuring leather and Carbon Black leather grips. And as if all that wasn’t enough to let you know you are in the presence of something unique, they have fitted it with grape motifs featured throughout the vehicle and a bespoke dedication plate. We were quite intrigued when Wald Inteational, one of the top Japanese tuners of all time, released a preview of their Lexus LC kit. Now this package is ready and it looks magnificent. Of course, if you don’t like the strong Japanese flavor of these kits then Wald Lexus LC is not going to appeal to you. But the fans are going to love it.  Wald Lexus LC package, available in Spot Line edition for 500 and 500h models, is a wide body affair. But unlike wide body kits from Germany and America, it is not in-your-face. The whole thing is designed to be subtle and exquisite and sophisticated, words that also describe the design of the car itself. Make no mistake. The styling kit is pretty out there, as it were, and attracts a lot of attention. But it is not trying too hard to do so, and that is what makes it cool. As for the ingredients, Wald Lexus LC body kit includes a modified front apron with a chin spoiler featuring a carbon lip and Wald’s signature LED lights. Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus is best known to most of you for their bespoke Ferrari-based supercars and race cars. But they are branching out, and one of the projects they have in mind is this weird and interesting offroad vehicle. This road-legal “expedition” vehicle is being built with the ultimate goal of driving up a volcano and setting a World Altitude Record at 7,000 meters.  That explains the design of the Glickenhaus offroader and the whole arrangement viz-a-viz suspension and wheels and underpinnings. The central driving position could also be justified in the same vein, although we have to wait and see if it makes it into the final production model. There are going to be a couple of different variants of Glickenhaus offroad vehicle, apparenlty nicknamed SCG Boot, with this four four-door Expedition version going for the Volvano record, and a two-door version called Steve for lighter adventures. Both variants will be available for purchase and in fact Glickenhaus says they have already received some inquiries.
