When you are as big and as respected as McLaren Automotive is right now, you can make up with color that isn’t special at all, put a fancy name on it, and charge people a lot of money for the privilege of having it. That is pretty much the deal with the latest McLaren MSO color, Muriwai White. Conceived by Bruce McLaren’s daughter Amanda, Muriwai White has no doubt a cool backstory. Muriwai is the New Zealand coastal community where Bruce McLaren won his first motor race at the age of 15 and the name chosen for his family house in England that was painted in a blueish white colour. That’s all great, but to look at it you wouldn’t call this shade anything but plain old white. But hey, you can always take a few minutes and explain the history of the color to people you meet, right? Just don’t be surprised if they slowly pulled away from you or fainted with boredom. The art of 3D printing is enabling more and more individuals who have a vision for the perfect supercar to actually make it happen, provided their bank account is stout enough to support this hobby. It took a while, but Chris Harris’ review of the new, face-lifted Porsche 991 Turbo S is finally released. The latest Bespoke model Rolls-Royce wants to show off, although at this point all of their products are bespoke in at least one way, is this rather special Wraith. The eye-catching Golden Yellow Rolls-Royce Wraith features a very un-Roller kind of color, but we have to say it works. So what we have here with this Golden Yellow Rolls-Royce Wraith is a paint scheme that would normally be found on a Nissan 370Z or a Honda Civic Type R prepared for a local tuning show. The base color is a shiny shade of yellow with golden hues, and it’s complemented with a sort of gunmetal grey roof and pillars and the whole thing is then paired with two-tone brushed and black RR wheels. It’s a combination that shouldn’t work on a Roller, but like we said, it just does. It’s been a while since we last saw one of these awesome real world reviews from Harry’s Garage. Now though the petrolhead king is back sporting a beard and reviewing another classic SL-Class Mercedes-Benz. Harry loves these cars, and after the R129 he showed us a while back he now has a more popular R107 1971 Mercedes 350 SL and wants to tell us about it. This generation of the SL has one of the most iconic body shapes ever and one that seems to be aging really, really well. It was back in April when we first got wind of the feud between the two lead presenters of the New Top Gear, started by Chris Evans criticizing Matt LeBlanc’s conduct in a film he made in London with stunt driver Ken Block. Tus out Evans is being a jerk to everyone on the production team, and LeBlanc now wants him gone. According to the latest reports by British tabloids — I know, not the best of sources — LeBlanc has threatened to leave Top Gear unless Chris Evans gets fired. We suppose what the American means is that he won’t renew his contract for a second season, because all the filming has been done for the first season and all he has to do to get the rest of his salary is to tolerate Evans during the studio bits. And how hard can that be? Well, it seems that’s pretty bloody hard. The new Top Gear has already lost an executive producer as a result of what is described in the media as Evans’s “tyrannical” behavior. It comes as no surprise, of course, the Evans is an egomaniac who is used to the confinements of a radio station where he controlled everything. So the rumors of Evans not knowing what to do with all the power invested in him by the BBC might be true. Meanwhile the show continues to suck in terms of rating, recording the lowest audience since 2003, which was when the first season of Clarkson’s TG aired. That is not surprising, either. No seriously, we’re expecting Mercedes-Benz to confirm the roadster version of the AMG GT before the new year. Prototypes of this car have already been sighted in Germany. What we want is for those prototypes to be the test mules of the Mercedes AMG GT R Roadster. But of course, the chances of that happening are close to nought. It takes Mercedes a long while to make up their mind about the roadster version of the regular GT — and even that has not yet been confirmed — so the idea of a Mercedes AMG GT R Roadster is just too outlandish to be anywhere on the horizon, at least for now. It doesn’t make much sense, either. The GT R is a hard-core, track-focused version of the AMG GT and having a roadster version of it is like having a roadster version of the Porsche 911 GT3. It just doesn’t seem right. The soft and cuddly AMG GT S seems like a better candidate for this treatment, seeing as that car is tuned more for a comfortable cruise than tearing around race tracks. That said, we have always admired AMG for how mad they are. So it won’t come as a surprise to us if they come up with a production Mercedes AMG GT R Roadster for those who want a bit of wind in their helmets as they tackle the Green Hell. Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton, who also has a hand in music, was quoted recently as saying that he is eventually going to Hollywood as he fancies himself a bit of an actor. We reckon those delusions were brought on by Hamilton’s starring role in the teaser campaign for the new Mercedes AMG GT R. As we mentioned in our previous coverage of that campaign, to promote the upcoming AMG GT R Mercedes has gone for a primal, survival of the fittest sort of theme called Beast of the Green Hell, which is a reference both to the beastly nature of the car as an uncompromising track machine and also the fact that it was developed at the green hell that the Nurburgring. And if you don’t have £165,000 lying around, you can just enjoy the spanking of Aston Martin Vantage GT8 in the hands of old boy Steve: [embedded content] Basically a Vantage GTE race car for the streets, Aston Martin Vantage GT8 boasts a revised V8 engine with around 450 horsepower, mated to either a six-speed manual or seven-speed SportshiftTM II paddle-shift transmissions. Being a race-bred car, the GT8 is lighter (100 kg) and harder than the regular Vantage, and it looks a lot angrier as well. It has cutaway front wheelarches which are really cool and an aero kit with massive front splitter and rear wing. Despite all this motorsport-y stuff, the GT8 comes with air-conditioning, a 160w audio system and Aston Martin’s latest AMi III infotainment system ensures.
