Major auto shows always mean a new special edition or one-ff Koenigsegg, and here’s the offering for this year’s Geneva Motor Show. This handsome beast you see here is called Koenigsegg Agera RS Gryphon, and it is the kind of car, one would imagine, Ragnar Lothbrok would drive… if he weren’t an ancient fictional viking. At any rate, Koenigsegg Agera RS Gryphon gets its name from mythical beast with the body and rear legs of a lion and the head, wings and front talons of an eagle. Monterey Car Week and Pebble Beach Concourse have always been significant events for Swedish hyper car maker Koenigsegg. They always reserve their most special debuts for this event. So following last year’s debut of the One:1, this year at Monterey they will introduce the new Koenigsegg Agera XS. The latest one-off Agera will be on display alongside the company’s brand-new and yet-to-be-launched Regera which will flaunt its 1,500 horsepower hybrid power at Monetery to whet the appetite of U.S. customer prior to the car’s launch in early 2017. Granted, the Scandinavians are used to storms and it takes a lot to impress them. But I reckon the meeting of fifteen roaring Koenigsegg models would do the trick nicely. This was the first factory-organized driving tour and owenrs’ meeting event by the company, and it tued out to be excellent. Part of the reason why the even was so good is because it wasn’t very crowded. Koenigsegg makes only one car per month, which means the Koenigsegg owners club is a pretty lonely place. This factory-backed rally gathered together thirteen cars which was then reduced to thirteen as they went from Denmark to Sweden and back, but then what that meant was the company could cater to each and every one of the customers with greater care and enthusiasm: [embedded content] The Koenigsegg owners’ rally 2016 began with a long drive from Copenhagen straight to the factory in Sweden where the guests lunched in one of the workshops and then took to the test track for a few hours of pedal to the metal action. There is a Four Seasons George V hotel in Champs-Élysees, Paris, which is an absolute hot spot for hyper car. A few days ago we saw the one-off Pagani Huayra Pearl over there,  now check out another one-off, multi-million Euro hyper car, the Koenigsegg Agera R. And it’s not alone. The blue Koenigsegg Agera R is accompanied by a Bugatti Veyron and what appears to be a Brabus Rocket 900 Maybach. The latter was also present when the Pearl popped by the hotel. Of course, they do have a parking garage, but in true Monte Carlo style the hotel lets their high-profile guests to park their hyper machines in front of the joint… until someone with an ever higher profile and a sicker car tus up. Even though they have only made like six Koenigsegg One:1 and all of them are sold, the Swedish “Megacar” maker is adamant their Nurgburgring escapades in this car is purely for testing reason and they have no interest in any lap records. Right, so they are testing a car that’s already sold out and out of production… Of course, they can tell you they are using the Koenigsegg One:1 as a test bed for the next ultra-hot megacar, but it takes no genius to see that in doing so they are also gunning for a lap record at the Green Hell. When you put your heart and soul in designing a car, it just won’t age. The Koenigsegg CCX is ten years old now, but looking at you would think it has just been launched.
