Mazda announced their 2018 Geneva Motor Show lineup today, and the star of the booth appears to be the Mazda6. Geneva will see the European debut of the new and upgraded Mazda6 sedan, plus the world premiere of 2019 Mazda6 Tourer, the station wagon version. They are also bringing along a couple of recent concepts.  2019 Mazda6 Tourer is a remarkable car as it makes as already amazing car even better. What we have here is a practical and affordable family car with the sportiness, handling, and quality inherent in all Mazda products. Before they shut down for the holidays Mazda North American Operations decided to announce the specs and details of the upgraded 2018 Mazda MX-5 Miata so you can spend your Christmas dreaming about it. You won’t have to wait too long though, as the 2018 Miata goes on sale in early January, priced from $25,295. As for the new stuff the 2018 Mazda MX-5 Miata comes with, customers can choose between a new Dark Cherry or Black soft top, Aubu-colored interior and Nappa leather seating. These, formerly special edition items for the Launch version, can now be ordered for Grand Touring model. Changes are not just cosmetic, as the new Miata also gets re-tuned rear suspension and power steering for better handling. The new Mazda MX-5 Z-Sport is a limited edition of just 300 units for the United Kingdom. It boasts not just special exterior and interior appointments, but also the best engine Mazda has to offer for this car.  And it starts at £25,595. Lack of big power is one of the characteristics of the Mazda MX-5 sports car. It’s deliberate, so as to make you work the engine and gearbox and find the intrinsic joy there is in that. But some people prefer more get up and go and for them British tuner BBR has a new turbo upgrade package that breathes more life into the MX-5’s tiny little heart.  BBR Mazda MX-5 ND Stage 1 turbocharger upgrade for the 1498cc SKYACTIV-G engine ups the power to 210 bhp which is a staggering 81 bhp more the standard. It also bumps the torque 197 lb.ft of torque (86lb.ft more than stock). The col thing about this upgrade is that the real torque still kicks in at fairly high rpm (above 3,000 rpm, peaking at 4,100 rpm). So you still get to rev the nuts of that motor and wring it out through the snappy gearbox. The key aspect of BBR Mazda MX-5 ND turbo upgrade is the tuner’s exclusive TSX28-67R twin-scroll turbocharger. It comes with bespoke casing,  front-mounted air to air intercooler,  a high-flow K&N induction system and BBR’s renowned Starchip / EcuTek RaceRom ECU software package, which includes revised fuel, ignition and boost calibration. Mazda revealed the official pricing for the new 2017 Mazda CX-5, a car they claim occupies a “sweet spot” in the compact crossover segment. They do have a point, since the CX-5 offers everything you would want from a car of this type, plus that yummy Mazda driving feel and quality. All of the makes the 2017 Mazda CX-5 good value at $24,045. Mind you, that is the starting price for the base Sport trim, which is actually very well equipped. As the 2016 SEMA show opens its doors to visitors at Las Vegas convention center Mazda reveals the two MX5 concepts they promised will knock our socks off. One of them, the MX-5 Miata Speedster Evolution, we have seen before. We are more excited about the new Mazda MX-5 RF Kuro. The Kuro is based on the new fastback version of the sports car and features a stealthy satin black finish as its main highlight. Basically a road-going MX-5 Global Cup race car, Mazda MX-5 RF Kuro also boasts adjustable suspension, Brembo dual-piston front brake calipers, OpenFlash Performance center exit exhaust, and 17 inch RAYS wheels. Mazda UK is preparing something small but hot for September release. This pepper-like product is the new Mazda2 Red Edition which is basically a SE-L Nav model equipped with a bunch of unique styling touches here and there and gaished with some red accents. Limited to 400 units for the British market, Mazda2 Red Edition comes on the outside with Snowflake White Pearlescent or Black Mica paint as well as Soul Red accents on the wing mirror covers, rear spoiler and rear underskirt. There is also a set of Dark Gunmetal 15” alloy wheels but they cost an extra 300 quid. As for the interior, the main highlights include red cloth seat trim, red knee pad inserts and red door trim inserts as well as white and red decor panels. Equipment-wise, you get the 7-inch touch-screen display with Mazda’s rotary Multimedia Commander. It is probably worth mentioning that Red Edition floor mats are also available but at extra cost. Mazda2 Red Edition will be available exclusively with the 90ps SKYACTIV-G petrol engine. The suspension gurus of KW Automotive have come up with two tailored suspension systems for the fourth-generation Mazda MX-5. The KW Variant 3 and 2-way Clubsport suspension promise to give the little roadster greater driving dynamics. And we’re sure they do. After all, KW is the best name in business when it comes to chassis and suspension upgrade. What we’re not sure about is whether you would want greater driving dynamics for your Mazda MX-5. You see, the MX-5 is just perfect the way it is. No, it’s not the fastest in the straight line or the best in coering, but as a package it has a certain feel about it that is a lot more satisfying than what you get from cars that excel at those things. By lowering it and making it more taut you run the risk of robbing the Miata of its imperfect, but very sweet handling. Should you decided you want that anyway, KW’s Variant 3 and 2-way Clubsport coilovers are there fore you, made from aluminum and featuring dampers that are adjustable in compression and rebound. The latter is for those who want to take their Mazda MX-5 to the race track, but both reduce the ride height by a significant amount.
