People keep telling us the horsepower war between German automakers is a thing of the past. How, then, will they explain the new 2019 Mercedes-AMG G63, which is more powerful than ever? This mighty offroader now packs an insane 585 horsepower from a 4.0 liter V8.  Based on the new generation of the G-Wagen with its cute new lights and fancy interior, the 2019 Mercedes-AMG G63 is also the most capable iteration of this car ever built. Zero to 100 km/h takes only 4.5 seconds. That alone is mind-boggling in a car this size. The limited maximum speed of 220 km/h, or 240 km/h with the AMG Driver‘s package, is the other astonishing figure, no less than the titanic 850 Nm of torque the engine generates. Not that anyone cares, but the combined fuel consumption is 13.2 l/100 km, and the combined CO2 emissions 299 g/km,mainly thanks to cylinder deactivation system. Visitors to this year’s Chicago Auto Show got their first glimpse at the new 2018 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid models. The latest version of the green Sonata offers a hard to beat blend of performance and efficiency, enough to cement the car’s position in the market as one of the top players.  Powering the 2018 Hyundai Sonata is a 2.0-liter Nu GDI four-cylinder engine coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission that houses a powerful 38 kW electric motor. The combined output of this system is a very respectable 193 horsepower, corresponding to an average fuel consumption of 39 mpg in the city, 45 mpg on the highway and 42 mpg combined. What’s more, this system offers 27 miles of electric driving (plug-in version) during which you can reach speeds up to 75 mph. Total range of the vehicle is 650 miles for hybrid and 590 miles for the plug-in. If you fancy yourself a bit of Sir Elton John action, there are a bunch of ways you can indulge in that lifestyle. But you wouldn’t think, would you, that one of those ways has to do with cars. This handsome car you see here is Sir Elton’s 1997 Aston Martin Vantage V8, and it’s up for grabs.  Set to go under the hammer at the Silverstone Auctions Race Retro Classic Car Sale on the 24th and 25th February, Elton John’s 1997 Aston Martin Vantage is a V550 version in black with a black leather interior. Apparently, the Rocket Man had better things to do than drive this car though, as it only has 8,663 miles on the clock. Granted, Elton is one of the previous owners. But those who got the car after him knew that some say the celebrity connection would fetch them big bucks and so they kept the car in min condition. Following the introduction of the all-new Ram 1500 series at Detroit Auto Show, Chrysler now unveils a more premium version for those truckers who value luxury. The 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie Longho is an exquisite product, looking like it could rival an Escalade while still being able to carry a large load of manor.  In short then, this is the kind of pickup truck you can go to the chu in in the moing, ferry the the cattle around around noon, and use it as wedding car in the evening. 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie Longho is distinguished on the outside over the regular models via two-tone RV Match Brown trim or monotone paint, premium LED headlamps and tail lamps, and unique wheels and grilles. Yes, it’s yet another tweaked version of an old model. But this Lotus Evora GT410 Sport is a good one, striking the right balance between performance and everyday usability. It is also one of the nicest looking Lotuses (or is it Loti?) of recent years. Whereas the GT430 is a tad on the rough side of things, the new Lotus Evora GT410 Sport is more practical, available in both 2 seat and 2+2 configurations, and with manual orautomatic transmissions. Power, as the name suggests, stands 410 horsepower, giving this 1,256 kg sports car a power-to-weight ratio of 326 hp per tonne. That translates to a 0 to 60 mph time of 3.9 seconds (manual gearbox 4.0 seconds) and a top speed of 190 mph or 305 km/h. While it does take balls of steel to do that kind of speed in a small and feather weight car, Lotus Evora GT410 Sport tries its best to protect you by first and foremost being an aerodynamically precise. It generates considerably more downforce than a standard Evora, compared to which it is also 98 kg lighter. Can’t afford the new Megane RS? Don’t despair. For a lot less money you can get yourself a Renault Clio R.S.18 which, in many ways, is a cooler proposition. Well, you may be able to get one, because it’s a limited edition model and these cars usually sell like hot cakes.  Named after Renault Sport Formula One Team’s 2018, the 2018 Renault Clio R.S.18 is a car designed for motorsport enthusiasts. The color scheme mirrors that of the F1 car with black and yellow accents. It also gets special R.S.18 badging on the front doors, plus the grey decals and new R.S. double-diamond logo on the roof. But perhaps the most daring feature of the exterior is the Sirius Yellow for the F1-style front blade, protective side mouldings and wheel centre caps which go really well with the deep black paint work. Under the skin Renault Clio R.S.18 is a 220 EDC Trophy with 220 horsepower engine which features a torque boost function for peak torque of 280 Nm. After giving us a taste of the new 2019 Mercedes G-Class interior, Daimler has now released the first photos of the legendary SUV flexing its muscles on an offroad course. Granted, it’s a heavily camo’d prototype, but it does reveal pretty much all that is new about this model. Nobody, of course, expects the 2019 Mercedes G-Class to come with a radical new design. It is going to maintain the iconic boxy shape of its predecessor. The new stuff are mainly trivial details such as rounder headlights, slimmer taillights, new bumper design, and a more prominent grille. And that’s alright. We don’t our beloved G-Wagen to look any different. The interior changes have been more substantial, giving the big G a more refined and luxurious feel inside the cabin. As for the technical specs, while the performance figures of the 2019 Mercedes G-Class are yet to be released, we have some initial details to drool over. Just in time for Christmas JLR has announced an “ultra-versatile” version of the Disco in the UK market. The new 2018 Land Rover Discovery Commercial is the ideal car to carry lots of boxes of presents, or tow a huge Xmas tree. The only problem the car won’t be released until the second quarter of next year.  But they, that gives you an excuse not to get a tree this year, and limit the presents to small, cheap items. What are yo gonna do, your regular Discovery does not enough room! You can promise your kids next year you will get the Land Rover Discovery Commercial which has up to 1,856 litres of flexible load space and can tow up to legal UK limit of 3.5 tonnes. Prestigious British exotic and classic car dealer, Hexagon, is offering something so unique, it is guaranteed to make classic car lovers whimper with excitement! It’s a 1959 Aston Martin DB4, and as if that wasn’t cool enough, this car is a pre-production unit painstakingly resorted back to its original glory.  This highly desirable item was the third Right Hand Drive DB4 to come from Newport Pagnell, featuring custom upgrades by Aston Martin aficionado Richard Williams. Once a demonstrator, this 1959 Aston Martin DB4 has been converted to run on a Vantage triple Weber carb system and boasts a 5-speed gearbox. The wider wire wheels sit inside especially modified fenders and provide more grip than any standard DB4. So to drive this little piece of Aston history is a pretty delightful car. But the main joy is owning this gem is ogling it. Finished in unique Blu Scozia with re-trimmed leather interior, the car is the quintessential vintage British sports car. With the world premiere of the all-new 2019 Mercedes G-Class set for the Detroit Auto Show in January, the German automaker is giving us a Christmas treat. They have released a bunch of photos completely revealing the SUV’s interior design. And it’s a fine blend of old and new, incorporating the current design themes of Mercedes-Benz into the unique shape of the G-Wagen‘s upright dashboard.  To be honest an upgrade to the big G’s cabin was long overdue. They did give it a new steering or a fancy screen now and then, but the overhaul that comes with the 2019 Mercedes G-Class is a real improvement in terms of design and ergonomics. There is more space in the new cabin, more luxury and comfort features, and fewer sharp edges that could seriously hurt you in the event of an accident. The main highlights include a new dashboard, instrument panel and center console in line with other Mercedes products of this era, plus new steering wheel, infotainment screen and seats. Well, you don’t need to strain your mind anymore trying to envision what the new 2019 Volkswagen Jetta will look like. VW has dropped the official renderings of the new mid-size sedan ahead of its NAIAS debut, and they leave nothing to the imagination. Here’s thew new Jetta, and isn’t it just… ordinary? Not that we were expecting some revolutionary new design or some extraordinary feature. But the 2019 Volkswagen Jetta does not appear to different enough from the existing model to justify the title of ‘new’. In faiess though, they seem to have tried to include some of the design cues from the sexy Arteon into the Jetta, especially around the front and rear fascia. That means even though the standard model may not be very exciting, there is hope still for the R-version and other possible high performance variants to address the issue with sportier cues and more aggressive features. Well here you go, the all-new 2019 Lamborghini Urus you have been waiting for the past few years. And isn’t it just… not instantly likable? I’s not bad at all. The Urus is actually as cool and aggressive looking as a Lambo should be, especially if you get the offroad package which comes with different bumpers. We’ve been hearing a lot about this car, and finally last night at the Los Angeles Auto show we got to see it in production trim. The all-new 2019 Subaru Ascent is the Japanese company’s ticket to play in the large SUV segment.
