Visitors to this year’s Chicago Auto Show got their first glimpse at the new 2018 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid models. The latest version of the green Sonata offers a hard to beat blend of performance and efficiency, enough to cement the car’s position in the market as one of the top players.  Powering the 2018 Hyundai Sonata is a 2.0-liter Nu GDI four-cylinder engine coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission that houses a powerful 38 kW electric motor. The combined output of this system is a very respectable 193 horsepower, corresponding to an average fuel consumption of 39 mpg in the city, 45 mpg on the highway and 42 mpg combined. What’s more, this system offers 27 miles of electric driving (plug-in version) during which you can reach speeds up to 75 mph. Total range of the vehicle is 650 miles for hybrid and 590 miles for the plug-in. The days in which SUVs were symbols of high fuel consumption and air pollution are long gone thanks to cars such as 2018 Acura MDX Sport Hybrid. These offer the same practicality and performance of a regular SUV, but with a frugal-ish engine. Of course, this much goodness is going to cost you.  2018 Acura MDX Sport Hybrid is priced from $52,100 MSRP to which you will have to add a $995 destination and handling fee. Still, considering the badge and how much kit you receive in retu for your cash, that sounds like good value. The biggest highlight of this model is the three-motor Sport Hybrid Super Handling-All Wheel Drive system which is basically the same powertrain they use in the NSX supercar. Here it generates 321 hp and 289 lb.-ft. of torque. The EPA rating for this system is 26 / 27 / 27 mpg City/Highway/Combined. Now, that doesn’t sound particularly brilliant, but you have to realize it’s 45 percent better than a non-hybrid MDX. Every year we are treated to a whole bunch of new 911 models, but only a handful of them are interesting enough to warrant a close inspection. The 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 Touring Package is certainly one of those, a wing-less, manual version of the GT3 built for purists. Here we take a close look at this superb machine in detailed pictures and videos.  The distinguishing feature of the Porsche 911 GT3 Touring Package is a variable rear spoiler like the 911 Carrera in place of the regular GT3 large fixed wing. Being a pure sort of 911, the car features a four-litre naturally aspirated engine with 500 horsepower and 460 Nm. Sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission, that power propel the Touring Package to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and on to a top speed of 316 km/h. Along with the GT3 Touring Package, this year we also got a tighter, lighter version of the Carrera. It’s called the Porsche 911 Carrera T, a badge that harks back 1968, and it promises some old-school fun with features such as less weight, shorter transmission ratios from the manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive with mechanical rear differential lock. Let’s take a deeper look at this cool sports car. Powering the 2018 Porsche 911 Carrera T is a twin turbocharged 3.0 liter flat-six with 370 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. It enables the T to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 290 km/h.while manual gearbox is standard,  PDK is available as an option. But 911 T is more about the fun of driving than outright speed, mainly thanks to a shorter rear axle ratio and mechanical differential lock, but also to some serious weight saving. There is less sound proofing and some of the windows are made of plastic, and rear seats have been omitted along with the Porsche Communication Management (PCM).
