Ordered by McLaren Newport Beach, US market’s largest McLaren retailer, the 10 McLaren MSO X models have been delivered to their buyers in Las Vegas. Created by McLaren Special Operations unit to emulate the spirit of the 570S GT4 race car, the X bunch come with liveries inspired by McLaren F1 GTR race car of the 90s. Now, normally it would be really uncool to have your car painted in motorsport liveries if you don’t want to use it exclusively on the race track. But in the case of the McLaren MSO X that’s alright because of the prestigious badge of the car. Granted, you still have to explain to people what those graphics on the exterior mean and by which legendary endurance racer they are inspired. But the buyers of the X are going to get plenty of admiring nods from car geeks on the street. Besides the racing look, McLaren MSO X models also get a GT4-based get a pylon-mounted rear wing with nearly 100kg of extra downforce, functional ‘goose neck’ carbon fibre roof snorkel borrowed from the F1 LongTail, front dive planes, an MSO Titanium Super Sports Exhaust, Pirelli P ZERO CORSA tyres and a 570S GT4-style bonnet with specially constructed air intake. Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus is best known to most of you for their bespoke Ferrari-based supercars and race cars. But they are branching out, and one of the projects they have in mind is this weird and interesting offroad vehicle. This road-legal “expedition” vehicle is being built with the ultimate goal of driving up a volcano and setting a World Altitude Record at 7,000 meters.  That explains the design of the Glickenhaus offroader and the whole arrangement viz-a-viz suspension and wheels and underpinnings. The central driving position could also be justified in the same vein, although we have to wait and see if it makes it into the final production model. There are going to be a couple of different variants of Glickenhaus offroad vehicle, apparenlty nicknamed SCG Boot, with this four four-door Expedition version going for the Volvano record, and a two-door version called Steve for lighter adventures. Both variants will be available for purchase and in fact Glickenhaus says they have already received some inquiries. Can’t afford the new Megane RS? Don’t despair. For a lot less money you can get yourself a Renault Clio R.S.18 which, in many ways, is a cooler proposition. Well, you may be able to get one, because it’s a limited edition model and these cars usually sell like hot cakes.  Named after Renault Sport Formula One Team’s 2018, the 2018 Renault Clio R.S.18 is a car designed for motorsport enthusiasts. The color scheme mirrors that of the F1 car with black and yellow accents. It also gets special R.S.18 badging on the front doors, plus the grey decals and new R.S. double-diamond logo on the roof. But perhaps the most daring feature of the exterior is the Sirius Yellow for the F1-style front blade, protective side mouldings and wheel centre caps which go really well with the deep black paint work. Bugatti alone has delivered 70 Chirons, meeting their production plans as though they are making family sedans!  As the ultimate production super sports car, Bugatti Chiron is a must-have accessory for the billionaires the world over. We are prepare to bet next year’s salary not one of them ever uses the full potential of the 1,500 horsepower machine, but that is not the point of this car. The real purpose of the Chiron is to make you look good as pull up at your favorite restaurant or casino or gala event. Bugatti is in fact on its way to make a killing with the Chiron series, setting themselves the goal of selling 500 units, 300 of which has already been marked. Don’t like the new 2019 Mercedes CLS? Want to see it butchered in by Photoshop? Well then you’ve come to the right place! Maybe butchered is not a fair word to use here, seeing as the shooting brake and coupe variants are looking pretty good. But you will agree the CLS pickup and that CLS 63 AMG depicted here are kind of horrendous.  This is not to say that artist has done a bad job. Not at all. Technically, these renderings are top works. It’s just the idea of a Mercedes CLS pickup truck that is revolting and doesn’t make any sense. The same goes for the CLS 63 AMG which, as you may know, is not going to happen. Anf hallelujah to that, if it were going to look like this. The next AMG CLS will be called CLS 53 and it’s a hybrid. So chances are AMG designer will steer clear of their usual tricks and come up with some new elements. Now for the eye candies… Let’s begin with the Mercedes CLS Shooting Brake which is a nice thing to look at on account of its sexy sloping roof. Granted, the front-end is still controversial, but at least with the Shooting Brake one does not have to look at the hideous back end featured on the standard CLS. Finally, the new, mode-day Alpine is ready to hit the roads, going on sale in five days. We’ve waited a long time for this thing, but all the evidence suggest 2018 Alpine A110 is well worth the wait. I’m afraid, however, the privilege of enjoying one is a bit costly, as the sports car starts at €58,500.
