While we are waiting for the first official images and details of the new 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe, the Korean car maker has dropped a commercial revealing in it the SUV in its full glory. The new Santa, we have to say, looks better in the flesh than what we saw in the official sketches and preview photos.  In fact, 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe seems to have migrated from the average, affordable SUV category to the high-end, luxury class. The mid-size SUV segment is ordinarily where you find the boring stuff. But with the new 2018 Chevrolet Traverse RS General Motors is breathing a new life into this market, offering a nice blend of style, practicality and performance. The $43,095 MSRP the Traverse RS carries may seem a bit high at first, but not after you’ve known about what it has to offer.  Chevy’s design, especially with mid-range cars, has not been something worth writing home about in recent years. That is also the case with the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse RS, even though it does feature some nice and sporty elements. There is black grille, black window trim, black roof rails and black bowtie emblems, along with 20-inch rims in Dark Android finish. But still, the looks here are not what would make you go wow. If you fancy yourself a bit of Sir Elton John action, there are a bunch of ways you can indulge in that lifestyle. But you wouldn’t think, would you, that one of those ways has to do with cars. This handsome car you see here is Sir Elton’s 1997 Aston Martin Vantage V8, and it’s up for grabs.  Set to go under the hammer at the Silverstone Auctions Race Retro Classic Car Sale on the 24th and 25th February, Elton John’s 1997 Aston Martin Vantage is a V550 version in black with a black leather interior. Apparently, the Rocket Man had better things to do than drive this car though, as it only has 8,663 miles on the clock. Granted, Elton is one of the previous owners. But those who got the car after him knew that some say the celebrity connection would fetch them big bucks and so they kept the car in min condition. Jaguar and their Classics department have found a brilliant way to make some serious cash, and that is re-making their old legends and selling them for over a million apop to wannabe connoisseurs. These are cars, mind, you can’t drive on the road. The latest is this Jaguar D-Type race car which has re-entered production 62 years after the last examples were produced 1956. That alone is quite remarkable and makes the new Jaguar D-Type race car worth whatever it’s going to cost. But there are other factors making this thing a highly collectible item. For one thing, they are only producing 25 examples, hand-built at Jaguar Land Rover Classic Works in Warwickshire. But more important than that is the history of D-Type and what it represents. Ordered by McLaren Newport Beach, US market’s largest McLaren retailer, the 10 McLaren MSO X models have been delivered to their buyers in Las Vegas. Created by McLaren Special Operations unit to emulate the spirit of the 570S GT4 race car, the X bunch come with liveries inspired by McLaren F1 GTR race car of the 90s. Now, normally it would be really uncool to have your car painted in motorsport liveries if you don’t want to use it exclusively on the race track. But in the case of the McLaren MSO X that’s alright because of the prestigious badge of the car. Granted, you still have to explain to people what those graphics on the exterior mean and by which legendary endurance racer they are inspired. But the buyers of the X are going to get plenty of admiring nods from car geeks on the street. Besides the racing look, McLaren MSO X models also get a GT4-based get a pylon-mounted rear wing with nearly 100kg of extra downforce, functional ‘goose neck’ carbon fibre roof snorkel borrowed from the F1 LongTail, front dive planes, an MSO Titanium Super Sports Exhaust, Pirelli P ZERO CORSA tyres and a 570S GT4-style bonnet with specially constructed air intake. ABT Sportline is coming to this year’s Geneva Motor Show with a hotted-up version of Audi’s RS5 Coupe. To look at it you would think ABT Audi RS5-R is a totally different animal than the standard car. But in fact the upgrades are pretty subtle in nature.This car just naturally look awesome.  In the engine department ABT Audi RS5-R does get a pretty good upgrade, but it’s nothing mind-blowing. The tuner has upped the output of the 2.9 liter biturbo V6 motor by 80 horsepower and boosted the torque by 90 Nm. That means the RS5 now has 530 horsepower and 690 Nm of torque to play with. And that means it can sprint form 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds as opposed to the standard model which completes the same task in 3.9 seconds. So there is no over-the-top million horsepower treatment here and that’s great. Those over-powered tuner cars are rarely usable on daily basis. ABT Audi RS5-R, though, could be driven everyday. Only it is more enjoyable,mainly thanks to the enhanced performance but also the new ABT muffler system which is part of the performance package and makes a superb noise.
