As the aficionado among you are fully aware, Ferrari F12tdf is named thusly because it’s an homage to the vintage Tour de France road races and the Ferraris that took part in it, namely the 250 GTO. So it is the natural order of things for this car to be dressed in the original livery of the 250, as seen here.

Things is though, this is the first Tour de France-liveried Ferrari F12tdf we recall seeing, which is curious considering how sentimental Ferrari customers are. These days, though, a lot of them prefer ordering their limited editions in personalized colors so that they would stand out in a crowd. Is it a sign that Ferrari’s traditional customer base is being gradually replaced by the parvenu? Perhaps, but that’s not such a bad thing.

As much as we respect Ferrari’s racing heritage and particularly the 250 GTO, we have to say the Tour de France livery is not a very interesting one as it consists only of a thick yellow stripe painted on the bonnet. We do realize it has historic significance, but this slap of yellow paint can sometimes cost more than twice the original price of that car, as seen with this 599 GTO which boasts a similar livery. Honestly we’d prefer our TDF in a more lively and interesting color.
