Sights and Sounds: Alfa Romeo Giulia 2.2 Diesel

So far everything we have shown you of the Alfa Romeo Giulia has been of the range-topping Quadrifoglio version with the 510 hp engine. That’s fair enough, you’ll agree, because that’s the version everybody wants. But what if you can’t afford a QV and still want a Giulia in your life?

Well, then you have to settle for one of the lower trim grades, either the regular Giulia or the one called Super which is what we have we have here. This Alfa Romeo Giulia is the middle of the range variant with a 2.2 liter diesel engine that pumps out 180 horsepower. It doesn’t look as sexy as the QV, but if you need a bit of that Giulia action on a budget, this baby is your best bet.

The 2.2-litre Diesel engine in the regular Alfa Romeo Giulia is available in two versions, with a 180 HP power at 3,750 rpm (maximum torque of up to 450 Nm at 1,750 rpm) and 150 HP at 4,000 rpm (maximum torque of 380 Nm at 1,500 rpm). Both configurations can be combined with a manual six-speed gearbox or alteatively with the new eight-speed automatic transmission.
