Spotlight: Audi R8 Selection 24h

The new generation Audi R8 has not yet gotten its feet grounded properly in the market, but already it has spawn what could remain the rarest and most special variant of the car throughout its lifetime. We are talking about the Audi R8 Selection 24h, built to celebrate the victory of the R8 LMS at 2015 24 Hours Nürburgring endurance race.

With a limited production run of 24 units Audi R8 Selection 24h is not something you can hope to see out in the real world very often. And even if you do see it, chances are you won’t recognize it because the exclusive touches on this special edition are rather subtle and understated. The main highlight of the car on the exterior is that the front spoiler, the exterior mirror housings, the engine compartment cover, the rear wing and the diffuser are made from gloss-finish carbon fiber. These, a matt-finish “R8 24h” logo and the 20 inch anthracite black wheels are all you have to go with.

But Audi R8 Selection 24h is more about the substance than appearances. Based on the V10 Plus models, the car boasts excellent performance figures such as 610 hp, 0 to 100 km/h (62.1 mph) in 3.2 seconds, and a top speed of 330 km/h (205.1 mph). What’s more, the car features dynamic steering, the adaptive damper control system Audi magnetic ride and Audi laser lighting, as well as full-leather upholstery, trim in the color rotor gray, Alcantara headlining, and gloss carbon trims.

The Selection 24h R8 was priced at EUR 229,000 at the factory, so even if you find one out in the open market it is going to cost a lot more than that. Here’s some showroom shots of this jewel of a car:
