Things to Come: Mercedes-AMG E63 Estate

Move aside Audi RS6, because there is (potentially) a new top dog coming to rule the high-performance wagon segment. The Mercedes-AMG E63 Estate rendered here based on the recently revealed 2018 model will soon be launched with 600 horsepower, unless something stops AMG from making it.

That is an unlikely scenario, because while BMW has always shied away from this market Mercedes has been quite active giving us high-performance wagons and shooting brakes. None of them have managed completely to challenge Audi’s authority in this market, but that could change with the launch of the new Mercedes-AMG E63 Estate. Even if doesn’t get the S-version like the sedan, the standard model with 560 horsepower is plenty powerful enough to take on the RS6.

They will most likely give the 2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 Estate the 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system as well so customers will have no excuse not to consider this bad boy over the RS6. Well, almost no excuse. What you see here in this excellent rendering is pretty much how the E63 wagon will look like, and while it’s a handsome car, it has to be said, it is nowhere near as good looking as that RS6, which looks like the bastard child of Brad Pitt and RoboCop. On the plus side, the Mercedes looks more restrained, and that’s something many people prefer to flashiness.
