SEAT Arona SUV Officially Announced

For the past few weeks Spanish car maker SEAT have been looking for a name for their brand-new SUV. Now they have found one, and they are announcing it in the most grand way possible. The airlifted the new SUV, dubbed SEAT Arona, through the beaches of Barcelona for everyone to get a blurry look at.

Then again, this was only a teaser for the SUV’s first public appearance later today and its world debut at IAA motor show in Frankfurt in September. During the teaser campaign the Arona spent an hour flying parallel to the Barcelona coastline. Dangling from a 20 metre long cable from a helicopter moving at 80km/h, the new model hugged the shoreline 300 metres above sea level.

Joining the Ateca in the company’s sport utility range, the new SEAT Arona is more of a compact crossover and SEAT’s first model to explore the constantly growing segment. Of course, we haven’t seen the car yet, but from what it reveals in the teaser footage the Arona appears to be in the same league as the new Kia Stonic and Hyundai Kona. It even has a two-tone paint work like those Korean boys. That means you can expect a similar range of engines and features.
