A few years ago, the Italian carmaker celebrated 50 years since the original Alfa Romeo Giulia was introduced, a car that went on an wrote history for the company based in Milan, Italy. There were so many great Alfa Romeo cars throughout the carmaker’s 100 year history that it’s hard to say the Giulia was the most important one, but one thing’s for sure, that it was and still is an iconic model and we were more than thrilled leaing that Alfa Romeo plans on reviving this year, as a replacement ...

The Italian Formula One Grand Prix came and went this past weekend and a Brit in a German car won it. That is probably because Ferrari drivers were off goofing around in anAlfa Romeo Giulia QV (Quadrifoglio). We kid, of course. The trio, including Sebastian Vettel, Kimi Räikkönenand Antonio Giovinazzi, were doing sister company Alfa Romeo a favor by taking the QV around the track for a frie...

So while their American branch, Acura, has to be content with limited exposure at this year’s SEMA show, Honda themselves are going to have a ball at the event. The highlight of their lineup is the Honda Civic Type R which will make its North American debut in “prototype” form at a “Civicpalooza.” We have already seen the new Honda Civic Type R at the Paris Motor Show last month, but SEMA will be the first opportunity the Americans have to check out the looks of the 10th generation Civic. The prototype features a highly reflective, finely-grained brushed aluminum-effect finish which brings out the car’s prominent styling features such as winged carbon fiber splitter and sporty red accen...

SaabKyle videos are usually long and super thorough in-depth tours and reviews of the cars he features. But every now and then he takes one these cars that has a particularly nice soundtrack out for a quick spin. The car in question this time is a 2016 Jaguar XJR, and although the focus here is on the exhaust note you also get a good look at the car itself and get a sense of how it drives. Jaguar XJR is a luxury saloon afflicted with obscurity, even though it is a fantastic piece of engineering. Some may it’s because it looks kind of weird, but if you can live with that design the car is an excellent choice over the Merc and Audis of this segment. [embedded content] Jaguar XJR Technical...

Well, it seems that the supremacy of the smug Porsche Panamera Turbo, which has long been the fastest, wildest, most vicious sports sedan, is at an end as the newAlfa Romeo Giulia QV (Quadrifoglio Verde) kicks its Teutonic bottom around the Nurburgring. The Italian car set a lap time of 7:32s which is six seconds quicker than the Porsche. The Alfa Romeo Giulia QV setting the record was driven by the company’s ace test driver Fabio France and it was equipped with the ZF 8-speed automatic transmission, proving once again that the manual transmission is a thing of the past. For comparison, a manual QV set a record of 7:39. [embedded content] Via Motor1 Alfa Romeo Giulia QV Highlights: Engi...

You have to forgive us for ripping off old man Hemingway for the title of this post because in some ways the Alfa Romeo 8C in these photos reminds us of the character in The Old Man and the Sea. Just look at it sitting there staring the sea in the face, braving the cruelties of a world that no longer pays any attention to it. No, these days it is the young man, the carbon-thin Alfa 4C, that is the center of attention. Cars like Alfa Romeo 8C are there with the dinosaurs, what with their rubbish engineering, wasteful engines, and imprecise handling. No one cares anymore that the car looks like an angel fashioned from a single piece of ruby stone by a heavenly chisel. All right, maybe we’...

One of the few things in the world that’s never disappointing is the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. This event is always full of automotive awesomeness, from magnificent vintage models to mode concepts and special editions. In this gallery you can check out some of the highlights of this year’s concours. The focus here is more on the vintage and classic cars at 2016 Pebble Beach Concours, which is fair enough as the mode stuff, like Maybach Vision 6 and Lamborghini Centenario Roadster, are getting plenty enough time in other posts. Looking at these photos one caot help but think that a large part of the greatness of this event is due to the location. There is just something magical a...

Monterey Car Week and Pebble Beach Concourse are quite possibly the world’s most prestigious motoring events. It takes a lot to stand out in that crowd, and nigh on impossible to become a showstopper. But it appears this year’s the show has already been stopped by this, the stuing Alfa Romeo Disco Volante Spyder. As the name suggests, Alfa Romeo Disco Volante Spyder is an open-top version of the Alfa 8C-based Disco Volante which created quite a buzz when it was first introduced some years ago and even made Jeremy Clarkson go all soft and gooey when he drove it. The Spyder at Quail has a lovely baby blue finish with black carbon accents which accentuate the car’s exquisite line very nice...

The guys at Garage Italia Customs are among the most visionary, which is to say weird, tuners in the auto world. If you have been following their previous works like BMW i8 Futurism and Mazda MX-5 Levanto, you know they are not very fond of the ordinary. And their latest project, an Alfa Romeo 4C dressed in a “Great Wave” theme, attests to that. The Great Wave by Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai is a 19th century woodwork art depicting a massive tsunami. What that has to do with the Alfa Romeo 4C we have no idea. But there is no denying applying that artwork to the body of the Italian sports car has resulted in something quite unique. As far as art cars go, GIC’s Great Wave 4C is up t...
