Before this we’d only seen the new Mercedes AMG GT R in official press photos and at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. But this week, and for the first time, the beast of the Green Hell was spotted on civilian roads, first in Belgium and then in Stuttgart, Germany.
The AMG GT R sighted in Stuttgart was prototype still wearing camouflage, which of course made if look even more outlandish sitting in the traffic next to the ordinary hatchbacks and sedans. The new aero kit on this car has a much more profound effect on the styling than you might think:
As for the Belgian Mercedes AMG GT R, it was the same mango AMG green car that took Goodwood by storm a few weeks ago. The car was brought here as part of the exclusive display at Mercedes-AMG pop-up store in Knokke-Heist. The tweaked V8 engine of the R sounds like a wounded animal even when idling:
